Organization Description:
“Save Your Hood” was born 4 years ago from the need of some people to live in cleaner, more beautiful and healthier neighborhoods! It encourages initiatives and gives individuals and groups the means to organize and act collectively in their neighborhoods, while providing a common ground where everyone can express their ideas and concerns.
SYH’s main activity is the voluntary clean-up actions in Greece, Cyprus and abroad by local volunteer groups that act self-organized, collectively and independently wherever and whenever there is a need. Within two years SYH counts more than 56.000 volunteers, 6.800 voluntary clean-up actions and 11.500.000 litres of rubbish returned to where they belong.
SYH’s vast network of volunteers is also activated during times of major crises such as fires.
In the summer of 2024, SYH organised 20 wildlife rescue actions in fire-affected areas of Greece, with the participation of more than 1200 volunteers, 305 creatures of Greek wildlife were rescued.

Volunteering Activity Description:

Every Summer in the months of July-August, the most magnificent volunteer experience you will ever encounter is here: “All You Want Is A CLEAN Greece” come on!
What does it mean?
Imagine this: We’re taking a stroll along our beautiful sandy shores, a gentle breeze caresses our face, and suddenly we spot a suspicious, sneaky piece of litter staring at us with half an eye. Instead of ignoring it like an ordinary beach goer, we channel our inner superhero and embark on a super littering spree!
We take a picture of the fantastic result of our intervention!
We upload our photos to our social networks and/or Save Your Hood using #cleangreece #pickitup !
We share this post to inspire other volunteers!

The only task of the volunteers is to organize clean-ups of natural landscapes (beaches, forests, etc.) and then upload the result of the actions to the SYH networks in order to mobilize other volunteers.
