Volunteering Activity Description:

We are seeking a volunteer for the role of Remedial Teaching Facilitator at ActionAid’s Community Center in Kolonos.
Job Purpose:
Facilitation of remedial teaching lessons and support of primary school students for better achievements during the school period in accordance with our community development approach.

Responsibilities:
– Facilitate remedial teaching lessons (Greek language and math) for primary school students.
– Utilize alternative teaching approaches.
– Adapt to the diverse educational needs of different student groups, including students with special talents.
– Apply effective classroom management and conflict resolution strategies.
– Promote equality in the classroom and provide students with appropriate support for an enhanced learning experience.
– Help improve students’ literacy and numeracy skills.
– Collaborate closely with the Community Centre’s educational staff and the Community Centre Manager.

Role Description:
The volunteer will assist third-grade children in understanding Mathematics and Language based on the school curriculum. The focus is not on completing daily homework but on fostering a deep comprehension of the subjects, enabling children to develop academic independence.
All lesson content and materials are prepared in advance by our teacher, who provides them to the volunteers along with detailed instructions. The teacher also maintains ongoing communication to monitor student progress and address any questions or challenges that may arise.
